I recently watched your "Mike Austin Takeaway" video. I was struck by your penetrating insights and keen awareness of what was ACTUALLY going on in Austin's swing apart from the misleading observations and
interpretations of others.
Many golf pupils and instructors suffer from what psychologists call "confirmation bias" or "group think." You don't. Congratulations.
I have authored a book, entitled GOLF'S THREE NOBLE TRUTHS (2007), focusing on awareness, balance and unity. I lament, among other things, the woeful lack of growth among most golfers. I assert that there's something seriously wrong with the way golf is currently being taught and learned. Simply put, I smell a rat.
Thus, it's no surprise -- given your rare ability to perceive and think independently -- that you have succeeded in recognizing and teaching the proper bio-mechanics associated with the Mike Austin Swing. How wonderful.

I would be delighted to write a full testimonial sometime, but in the meantime I do have a question for you. It concerns the weight shift on the downswing: I understand very well the reasons for throwing the club head from the top, why this release cannot be delayed. I also understand that, assuming everything has been done correctly to this point, this throw will cause the weight to move towards the target - i.e. the spine pendulum must go back the other direction - in order for the body to maintain its balance.
My question to you is this: is this weight shift purely reflexive as a result of the throw, or is there a conscious effort to push the navel all the way forward? Are the two inextricably linked, or should there be a conscious driving forward of the weight before or after the throwing motion?
